A complete guide to wedding flowers
Weddings are a very special time in our lives that we only do once. So there’s a lot of pressure to meet the aesthetic that will remain timeless forever.
As a previous bride myself, I’ve gotten that shock when I received my wedding flower quote but didn’t understand the prices.
The number one question that needs to be asked during the enquiry process is - what is my budget & what can it get me? There are multiple factors that affect the cost of flowers & I’m here to write a detailed blog as to why we charge these prices for wedding flowers.
I understand that weddings are expensive. But there’s more to what you see - flowers may be cheap to buy wholesale, so why is it this price?!

You are asking small business owners to give up their weekends– as well as working strange hours of the week preparing for your wedding and being available to answer all of your questions. Not to mention, it is also very laborous! It’s not quite as glamorous as you think. The flower tower you dream of requires muscle power. The arbour doesn’t install itself. And the flowers from the market need to be processed to ensure they stay as fresh as possible. Lastly, we allocate admin time to ensure we’re meeting your vision.
Again, why do flowers cost so much?
Time and effort.
Allocated time and efforts are required long before the wedding day. We call this the background work - refining design proposals, clarifying your vision & aesthetics, and finalising floral designs.
Professional expertise & creativity.
We coordinate with your venue on event logistics, handle flower sourcing from local growers, and rent styling items if needed. Our team has professional expertise to design custom floral arrangements tailored to your specific needs.
These elements ensure your day runs smoothly and executed flawlessly.
We love what we do and the labour is 10000% worth it just to see you happy & satisfied the moment you first walk into your ceremony & reception!
As a general rule, the average costs for wedding florals is about 10-15% of your overall wedding budget. However, I’ve created a small guide as to what you can get for different budget categories.
$1000 - $2000
This will include the bridal bouquet, a couple bridesmaid bouquets, & buttonholes from the groom and additional members of the bridal party.
It can also feature a very simple arrangement for your bridal table if you are having a very intimate wedding with no bridal party.
$2500-$5000
This will cover personals for a fuller bridal party - bridal bouquet, bridesmaids bouquet, buttonholes for the groom & groomsmen.
It may also include a feature element at ceremony and reception. For example - medium sized florals on plinths for your ceremony.
It can allow for simple guest table floral arrangements with candles at your reception. For e.g bud vases & candles.
$6000-$8000
A budget within this range will include lush & fuller florals for both ceremony and reception.
This will include personal flowers, full ceremony feature, reception installations, & high & low table centrepieces for guests tables.
Above $10,000
Personals for a larger bridal party - bouquets, buttonholes, corsages, flower girl or page boy petals/buttonholes
This budget allows for luxurious personal flowers, stunning statement designs for the ceremony, and elegant premium centerpieces and candles for a seated reception of up to 200 guests.
Full coverage and lush centrepieces with styling pieces featured on bridal table! For example draping, candles, flower clouds, flower cascades, flower towers/nests/large floor arrangements repurposed from the ceremony.
Another thing to account for is the cost of labour. This cost is may depend on the venue rules on setup and pack down, also depending on the day of the week or if your date falls on public holidays or Sundays.
I hope this simplified the reasons why flowers costs the way they do and that it helps you with your wedding planning.
With love,
A
